How to Install Rear Seat Belts in a Jeep Wrangler

Many folks enjoy driving a Jeep Wrangler. If you have a large family, though, the restricted seating may be an issue. What is the number of seats in the Jeep Wrangler? We can provide you with an answer.A total of three seats are available in Jeep Wranglers, with two bucket seats in the front and a bench in the back. Two people can sit in the back seat of the two-door Wrangler variants. The rear passenger capacity is increased to three in the four-door models, for a total seating capacity of five.

Rear seatbelts are being added

Do you have the seat but not the belts, or are you planning on purchasing a seat as well? My car came with a back seat and two seat belts, but I removed the seat on the first day and haven’t replaced it since. If my memory serves me correctly, the coiled parts of the belts are bolted to the tub, whereas the bottom parts of the belts where they snap in are the lower sections of the rear roll bars are mounted with these. However, I don’t believe there is enough room for a third belt! I’d use an air plane seat belt and bolt each side to the OEM seat straps in the back tub if I had to. If you obtain the type of belt I’m thinking of, installation should be simple. You can use a generic lap belt if you put a belt on the seat. Use the same mounting bolts and places as the original. The attachment places of seat belts are governed by law. Check to see if you’re breaking any local or federal laws.

Instructions for installation 1 overview

1. Seat belts that came with the vehicle should always be in position and ready to use. When installing the SCHROTH asharness belt, we strongly advise you to leave all JEEP factory-installed 3-point restraint systems in place for the front and rear seating positions. Removing original equipment restraint systems may also be illegal under state and federal law.

2. Anchor bolts on bracket, plus SCHROTH Rallye Bolt Additional SCHROTH connecting tails will be connected to the factory mounting point along with the factory belt using the factory provided bolts. Each bolt should be tightened nine (9) full 360-degree twists. To a torque of 30 ft. lbs., tighten all anchorage bolts

3. Lap belt connectors on the outside on the outboard side of the seat, the front outboard lap belt mounting points can be found.

4. Connectors for the inside lap and tail belts are installed. Simply insert the “male” SCHROTH WRANGLER buckles (front and back) into the female receptacle provided by the factory.

5. Install SCHROTH rear outside tail strap buckles. Left and Rightbelts. The outboard tail strap attachment positions can be reached without removing the back seat. Behind the bottom cushion of the back seat, the rear anchor point stud is visible.

6.  Seat belt attachment brackets come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Installing Procedures

  1. Remove the plastic cap that covers the bolt that connects the shoulder sash guide to the roll bar above the driver’s shoulder to the shoulder sash guide. Using a T45 socket, unscrew the bolt holding the belt guide to the roll bar.

2. Unbolt the T45 bolt from behind the lower seat belt assembly (retractor end). A socket expansion proved to be really useful to me.

3. Check that the new seat belt is properly aligned across the driver’s seat by laying it out. The included bolt and lock washer are used to secure the new top guide to the roll bar. Use an 11/16 socket to tighten the screws. The plastic cover included in the package is used to cover the bolt.

4. On the Jeep tub where the previous component was removed, replace the lower seat belt assembly and the end of the belt. I used the original T45 bolt to rejoin mine, although the kit includes a replacement bolt. The longer of the two bolts is the one included in the kit. This belt does not need to be vertical to retract, unlike the original retractor, but it should be aligned vertically as much as feasible.

5. Using the T45 socket, take off the original seat belt buckle from the Jeep tub. The bolt is shielded by a plastic covering.

6. In lieu of the previous bracket, bolt the “L” bracket to the Jeep’s tub. I used a shorter bolt from the kit, along with a lock washer, below the bracket. The “L” is a little longer on one end than the other. On the tub, I used the shorter side, and on the seatbelt clip, I used the longer side. (In this image, the L might be reversed.) This arrangement allowed the seat belt buckle to swivel with the most room. With 11/16 socket, tighten bolt to tub.
